Seema Rai and her Hindi Shayari
“Life is as good as you make it,” someone had once said to me. No sooner had I finished my graduation, I joined the corporate world and started working towards building my career. Even during my college days, when others were busy taking part in festivals and discovering friendships of their lifetimes, I was busy studying and worrying about my examinations. I was an absolutely introvert with a handful of friends. One fine day, just as I was sitting by the quadrangle of the college, thinking of a solution to the math problem that lay in the book lying in front of me, a really pretty looking girl came up to me. I instantly recognized her. She was Seema Rai, one of the most popular girls of our class. One of the main reasons why she was so popular was not only because of her beauty but also the fact that she was among the top basketball players our college had. I would always watch her games secretly and admire her skills.
She came up to me and introduced herself. I replied saying, “I know who you are. We are in the same class.” How stupid a reply was that! Any who, she sat next to me and peeped into my book. I noticed how easy it was for her to strike a conversation with me, unlike me. She spoke effortlessly as I watched her, adoringly. I still couldn’t believe I was actually talking to her. We spoke for about half an hour. Alas, it was time for her to go. She left just as swiftly as she had come.
That night, I replayed our conversation over and over again. What I could have said better or what stupid reply I may have unknowingly given.
Next day, I sat in the exact spot at the exact time, in hopes of seeing her again. Time passed by, and my hopes seemed to be washing away. It was right about the time that I was going to give up that I saw a glimpse of her walking towards me at an easy pace. I couldn’t have been happier. As days passed by, we spent more and more time together. It felt like a dream.
It was one fine day that she brought her personal dairy with her. The first few pages were filled with Hindi Love Shayari by great personalities, and as she flipped her pages further, there were some written by her as well.
She proceeded to narrate one Hindi Shayari that was quite dear to her, slowly. She said the Hindi Shayari with utmost humility and it impressed me way beyond words. The use of words touched my heart. As she looked up after narrating the Hindi Shayari, she understood what was going on in my head. She smiled as if she was acknowledging my feelings at the moment.
“Life is as good as you make,” she then whispered. “Enjoy the little moments, my friend. Find art and express yourself through it. Life will be beautiful as it is,” she added. That was the last day I saw her. She shifted to another city. Although, she still keeps in touch but she has pretty much moved on with her life. What she has left behind is her note of Hindi Shayaris that I keep close to me. I look at it every night and remind myself to enjoy the little moments. Her Hindi Romantic Shayaris are a reminder that good things still exist in life. Thank you, Seema Rai. I may have not been able to make you mine, you live through the note of Hindi Shayaris you’ve left with me.
